a while ago i made the decision that, in order to capture the aspects of London that lurk beneath the surface, the ones on which i plan to base my future guide, it would be necessary to go and experience them first hand, visually documenting them where possible. So i decided that today was the day to go and investigate the oldest profession this city holds. As, i figured, this trade had remained a main staple of the London underworld this long, business would continue to flourish for another two centuries and hold a place in my vision of this city's future. i have limited experience with the ladies of the night, i decided upon asking the dregs of sohos red light district, a fat Greek man with directed me towards his favorite house of ill repute, i sketched him quickly as he had a sick mustache, and was pretty much how i imagined a punter to be. in brief i chatted with a couple of the girls for half an hour under the pretense of writing a magazine article, my preconceptions, mostly imaginings of scared little eastern European girls forced into this trade by evil Russian gangsters, were quickly vanquished. I am sure that such situations are rife within this city, but i would prefer to focus on the positive aspects i got from these women, they were confident, surprisingly content and most of all relished the power they held over the punters...
